Butler Beach
Butler Beach features wide stretches of white sand beaches on Anastasia Island. Located about 8 miles south of downtown St. Augustine, Butler Beach isn't in the thick of heavy traffic and congestion making it the perfect beach to unwind. Enjoy swimming, sunbathing, biking, and more. Butler Beach is dog friendly, as long as the dog is leashed at all times.
Butler Beach has an important history as well, named after Frank B. Butler, who purchased the land in 1927 as the first beach in the region where Blacks were allowed. In fact, it was the only beach between Daytona Beach to the south and American Beach to the north that wasn't "whites only."
This beach is accessed via the Frank B. Butler County Park and has amenities, including free parking, restrooms, showers, barbecue grills, and a picnic area.
